22nd IEEE International eScience Conference (eScience’26) Instructions for invited speakers

The 22nd IEEE International Conference on eScience (eScience 2026) will be held in Naples, Italy, from September 28 to October 2, 2026. The IEEE eScience conference brings together researchers, practitioners, and technology experts working across the broad field of computationally intensive and data-intensive science. It provides an interdisciplinary forum for discussing innovative research methods, enabling technologies, scientific applications, and infrastructures supporting every stage of the research lifecycle. The invited speakers are internationally recognized scientists whose work has made outstanding contributions to eScience and closely related fields. They were selected through an especially rigorous and highly selective nomination and evaluation process conducted by the eScience 2026 Organizing Committee, in close consultation with the Conference Steering Committee. Their participation represents an exceptional and prestigious contribution to the IEEE eScience 2026 technical program. Invited talks are reserved for distinguished scientists whose achievements, leadership, and vision can offer the conference community authoritative perspectives on the present and future of computationally intensive and data-intensive research. The inclusion of these contributions alongside the peer-reviewed technical program is intended to provide a unique opportunity for participants to engage with influential ideas, major scientific developments, and emerging research directions. The invited speakers will present their work during the dedicated Invited Talks Session, which will be held on October 1, 2026 in the Teatro Room. Their talks will address significant advances, emerging opportunities, and open challenges in eScience, including the interplay among scientific applications, research communities, data, software, digital infrastructures, and enabling technologies. Invited speakers are requested to use the submission link provided on this page to submit their paper an optional short paper of approximately 4–6 pages, prepared according to the conference proceedings format described at the bottom of this page, for inclusion in the official conference proceedings; The optional short paper is a further distinctive opportunity associated with the invited contribution. It may present the scientific context, principal ideas, results, perspectives, or open challenges addressed by the talk and, if accepted for inclusion, will provide a lasting scholarly record of the invited speaker’s contribution to the conference.

Submitted papers should use the IEEE 8.5×11 manuscript guidelines: double-column text using single-spaced 10-point font on 8.5×11-inch pages. Templates are available here: https://www.ieee.org/conferences/publishing/templates.

Submitted papers may also be posted on preprint servers (e.g., arXiv).

Invited speakers are also asked to send, as instructed in the email invitation:

  • a high-resolution photograph of the speaker;
  • a short professional biography of the speaker.

These materials will be used to present and promote the invited talks on the conference website and through the official IEEE eScience social media channels.

At least one author of each accepted paper must register as an author at the full registration rate. Each author registration applies to only one accepted submission. Note. The use of artificial intelligence (AI)-generated content shall be disclosed in the acknowledgements section of the paper. The AI system used shall be identified, and specific sections of the paper that use AI-generated content shall be determined, accompanied by a brief explanation regarding the level at which the AI system was used to generate the content. Authors are fully responsible for all content they submit.
