NSF Travel Grant

eScience through funding by the National Science Foundation (NSF) offers travel grants to help undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at a U.S. institution with a graduation date on or after the conference date, attend the eScience conference.

eScience encourages, but does not require, the applicant's institution to supplement the grant. The applicants must provide a letter of support from an academic advisor. Applicants do not have to present at eScience for consideration.


Eligibility

Students must be enrolled in the 2025-2026 academic year at an accredited U.S. academic institution.

Applicants do not have to be making a presentation at eScience, but they need to describe why they will benefit from attending the conference. (max 200 words).

Priority for consideration is given to applicants who might not otherwise be able to attend the conference.


What's Included

Reimbursement of travel expenses up to $1,500:

  • Registration fees: $500 for IEEE student members and $600 for non-members.
  • Lodging for students not in the Chicagoland area: $250/night.
  • Airfare, food and miscellaneous: up to $500

Application Requirements

Applicants will be prompted to provide the following:

  • Statement of why you wish to attend eScience and what you hope to gain by doing so (write a few sentences)
  • Simple budget (including conference registration fee) - Submit a PDF file
  • Brief letter of support from your academic advisor or research supervisor, referencing any supplemental institutional support that will be provided, if any. - Submit a PDF file.
